About Daaf Egberts

My goal is to help people become strong and more resilient humans & athletes

My name is Daaf Egberts, I’m a personal trainer and a certified Olympic Weightlifting, Conditioning & CrossFit coach. After coaching and training in Auckland, New Zealand for the last 2.5 years I’m back in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Through Daaf Egberts Training I offer accessible performance coaching & share information on athletic training. I have a big passion for helping people improve their performance through strength-, conditioning- and movement training, whether in sports or just in life.

Throughout my life, sports have always played a big role. Although currently, I spend most of my time doing CrossFit, growing up I played several different sports like tennis and ice-skating and spent the majority of my time playing football. At the age of 14, I had to stop playing football and rehabilitate from a lower back injury. This introduced me into the world of strength and movement training which sparked a life-long fascination for everything involving strength and movement.

I didn’t start my professional career in sports, however. After finishing my MBA at the University of Amsterdam, I worked as a management consultant for a few years before I went to pursue my true passion. I became a personal trainer and decided to dedicate my life to sports and movement fully. This ultimately has let me start working as a trainer and helping others become the best version of themselves.

Throughout my work I see a lot of people training without focus, forgetting to harvest their “low-hanging fruit”. Leading to inferior training results and loss of motivation. Caused by a lack of information and education simply “Not knowing what to do”. I strive to educate my athletes on how to train better and identify weaknesses. I try not to tell anybody what to do, but help them figure it out. I feel this creates a high degree of independence and leads to the best results.

Because everybody is different, and sometimes life throws a little curveball, training needs to be adaptable. I place a lot of emphasis on frequent (re)evaluation, feedback and analysis of the training. This way the trainees are actively involved in the development of the program, and we can quickly adapt to different situations. I believe this generates the best results. Additionally, having some ownership over your development just makes it way more fun. And in the end, that might be the single most important thing: just have fun!
